Associate Pastor of Youth Ministry

  • Position: Full Time
  • Accountable to: Senior Pastor
  • Responsible for: Youth Ministry (Middle School and High School)
  • Collaboration with: Children’s Ministry   

Specific Responsibilities

Middle and High School

  • Oversee youth ministry (Grades 6-12)
  • Oversee youth ministry volunteers (This will involve enlisting, training, and coordinating volunteers to assist with the youth ministry at Cedar Creek)
  • Teach weekly (Sunday morning small group and midweek programming)
  • Build relationships with youth and their families
  • Create a discipleship culture
  • Engage with youth outside of ministry settings (school sports, etc.) 

Elementary School

  • Work closely with Cedar Creek Kids (Sunday Children’s Church) leader and volunteers to develop an assimilation process for 5th graders graduating from Cedar Creek Kids Outreach
  • Oversee outreach events related to the youth ministry at Cedar Creek
  • Establish a healthy relationship with Greene County School District  

Administration     

  • Manage youth budget
  • Manage youth social media accounts
  • Attend weekly staff meetings, providing up-to-date information about the ministry
  • Attend all quarterly Council and Christian Education Committee meetings  

General Responsibilities

  • Active participation in weekly church services
  • Active participation in outreach events
  • Must be willing to preach on Sunday mornings in the Senior Pastor’s absence
  • Must be willing to assist the Senior Pastor with pastoral care  

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Youth Ministry or similar degree program (Preferred)
  • Ordained or willing to enter the ordination process in the Church of God (Anderson)
  • 2-3 years of experience working or volunteering in Youth Ministry settings (Preferred) 

Qualifications

  • Be a born-again growing follower of Jesus Christ
  • Must possess a call to local church ministry
  • Be in shape spiritually, mentally, and emotionally
  • Agree with the beliefs of the Church of God (Anderson), and the mission, beliefs, and bylaws of Cedar Creek COG
  • Teach God’s Word in an accurate and age-specific manner
  • Possess leadership characteristics and use skills to train, equip and inspire
  • Ability to take direction and receive feedback
  • Ability to initiate and complete tasks without prompting
  • Possess the interpersonal skills necessary to handle sensitive and confidential situations and documentation
